What happens first
Control continuing damage
When safe, identify the source and conditions that can continue spreading damage.
Find the affected area
Visible water is not always the moisture boundary. Investigation may include moisture mapping, thermal screening and assembly-specific measurements.
Mitigate efficiently
Remove what needs removal, dry what can reasonably be dried, document conditions and avoid unnecessary work.
Why measured decisions matter
More demolition is not automatically better mitigation. Less demolition is not automatically better either. The objective is appropriate work for the actual materials, assemblies and conditions found.
