A drying chamber is an environmental boundary
The purpose is to control the air interacting with wet materials. Smaller effective volume can improve control, but only when the boundary does not trap unsafe heat, contaminants or required ventilation.
Plastic sheeting alone does not guarantee a controlled chamber if air leaks freely around doors, ceilings or HVAC.
Containment may serve a different purpose
Containment can also isolate dust or contamination. In those cases, negative pressure and filtration may take priority over the most energy-efficient drying configuration.
Drying and contamination-control objectives should be designed together.
Measure both sides of the boundary
Compare chamber conditions with adjacent or outdoor air. If humidity repeatedly rebounds when doors open or HVAC runs, infiltration may be the dominant moisture load.
Pressure checks, smoke visualization or airflow measurements can help locate leakage paths where appropriate.
Avoid creating new hazards
Temporary barriers must respect exits, fire protection, sprinkler coverage, heat limits and occupant access.
